David Bau is the creator of turtlebits.net and the jquery-turtle library that supplies the turtle functions for Turtlebits. He is a programmer at Google and a father of three. In his free time he coaches a middle-school math team.
David is writing an introductory book about programing based on his experiences teaching after-school programs in Lincoln MA and Dorchester MA, and based on the way he has taught his own children to program. The book, drafted before the website, begins with the advice "Run your programs on turtlebits.net." Turtlebits was created for the book.
David believes that students should learn how to code like they might learn to use a pencil: as a flexible outlet for creativity, and as a simple tool for understanding.
